About Gloria:

I am a grandmother that has just finished my masters degree in curriculum and instruction from Avila University. I currently work for the University of missouri here in Kansas City teaching nutrition. I have tutored reading with other schools and currently am helping my seven year old grandson with his reading. I think I have a way of helping students discover that they really enjoy reading and that reading can open up a whole new world for them. I am also learning how to best help students or people with dyslexia. I love a challenge and it would give me great pleasure to see them succeed. One of the most enjoyable classes at Avila involved helping students learn how to read. I have kept all my books and material and have access to my professors. I am not afraid to try a variety of ways to help students recognize words and help with developing phonemic awareness that is so crucial in making the connection to the sound of words and speech.
